I'm so excited to finally have an internet connection. I was finally able to get it done after calling the person who was supposed to be installing it directly. After bothering the internet company, they finally gave me his name and number. He told me he could be at our place in just three hours. He showed up, plugged in our modem and had it working in 10 minutes. Seriously?? After 2 weeks of waiting, I finally got it done by tracking down the right person. Lesson learned. I am not going to miss the walk to McDonald's in this heat! Now, I face the overwhelming task of taking care of bills, taxes, address changes, etc.
We have been in our new place for almost two weeks. Here's one photo of our new living room. Our things from the U.S. still haven't arrived and we haven't purchased a whole lot yet. It still feels quite sterile to me. It will be nice to get some pictures on the walls and a couple of rugs on the floors. After all, this will be our home for some time.

I will leave you with a photo of a poster that was inside my bathroom stall today. Western toilets tend to be quite dirty here, since most of the local people are used to 'squatting' over a hole in the floor. Thus, it is pretty typical to find shoe marks on the seats. The mall across the street from us is trying to combat that problem.
Over the next few days, I will fill you in on what our first month has really been like.
